Current Crush: Pushing Daisies.
Happy Pi Day!
Whenever I hear the word pie/pi, I always think of Pushing Daisies.
And this isn't so much a Current Crush as it is a Lifelong Love.
Vintage clothes, vibrant sets, alliterative names, fresh pie. Pushing Daisies, you and I are kindred spirits.
My fall 2008 semester of college, my roommates and I threw a Pushing Daisies party. We invited mostly acquaintances to eat pie and watch the season premier, but that semester we all grew to be a group of friends known as The Family. That is the magic of Pushing Daisies. It really brings people together.
Sadly, that was the last season. The writer's strike really put a dampening on the show. The creator Bryan Fuller was going to continue the series in the form of comics, but I read that DC Comics owns the rights to it and doesn't want to produce the series because they don't think there will be a big enough audience. Guys, we need to change their minds.
If you haven't seen it, check it out from your library or borrow it from me ASAP. I heard it was on Netflix once but isn't any more. Fair warning, it will probably make you crave pie or some type of baked good.
Fun fact: They avoided using blue as much as possible and turned up the saturation a smidge to add to the whimsical aesthetics of the show.

I wish it was still on Netflix. Those were the days, staying up till 3 in the morning eating pretzels and nutella wondering what was going to happen next.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. Pretzels and Nutella. I don't know why I have never partaken of such a delicious sounding combination.

ReplyDeleteMe too! I am so sad the comic hasn't worked out! I heard rumors about people starting a Kickstarter to fund a Pushing Daisies comeback. That would be amaaazing.
